Donald Trump is known for doing things differently from any other president, but this week, he’s done something people are still struggling to grapple with.
The president and his administration recently began the installation of a 100-foot UFC-style octagon ring on the lawn of the White House for his upcoming 80th birthday, which happens to fall on the same day as Flag Day. The ring, though temporary, has already made its mark, with thousands of social media users expressing not only outrage but also embarrassment due to the situation. Read more about it below.

The White House Begins Installing A 100-Ft UFC Ring For Trump's Birthday
This week, something happened for the first time in American history, all in honor of both the current president's birthday and Flag Day, which he's chosen to celebrate together.
On the South Lawn of the White House, construction crews officially began putting together a massive, UFC-style octagon ring that will host numerous UFC fights as part of the "UFC Freedom 250" events, which will make up one of many plans the president has for his 80th birthday and the nation's 250th birthday.
The ring, which is currently being made out of red and blue materials, will reportedly contain "enough space to hold 4,500 fans and another 50,000 to 100,000 people," according to what the former NYC real estate mogul told reporters last month. Additionally, there will be large screens installed around the ring for additional attendees and onlookers to watch the fights.

Social Media Users Slam Trump's 'Embarrassing' UFC Ring
After media outlets and Washington D.C. residents began sharing pictures and videos of the large fighting ring being built outside the White House, it didn't take long for social media users to chime in on the situation.
The building of the temporary ring marks another instance of the president making changes and unconventional decisions involving the White House, after beginning construction to build a ballroom in the East Wing, paving over Jackie Kennedy's famous rose garden, and more.
Though some are used to hearing news like this, there was still a lot of backlash shared on various platforms like X, Instagram, and more.
One X user called the situation a "national embarrassment," as another responded, "This is grotesque."
"This is the most embarrassing thing in US History," wrote a user. "The world is laughing at us."
"This is the trashiest thing I've ever seen," commented a user, with another adding, "This is a ridiculous waste of money and time."
"Trump has literally turned the White House into a circus!" responded a user.
