Savannah Guthrie Sits Down For First Interview Since Her Mother's Disappearance

One of the most talked-about crime cases in the world right now is the disappearance and kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, the elderly mother of Savannah, the super-popular television host.

It's been a little over 50 days since Nancy was declared missing, as law enforcement believes she was abducted against her will from her Tucson, Arizona, home in the middle of the night. Since then, the Today personality and her siblings have been begging anyone with information to come forward on social media, as well as keeping supporters updated on how they're trying to hang in there.

This week, for the first time since the search for her mom began, Savannah sat down for an in-depth interview on the experience. Adding an extra sentimental element to the interview, she spoke to none other than her friend and Today colleague, Hoda Kotb, who has been filling in for her. Though the full interview will be released later this week, the morning talk show shared a preview of it today.

"Someone needs to do the right thing," said the 54-year-old in tears. "We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable. And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night, and in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now."

Fans React To Savannah's Interview Clip On Social Media

It didn't take long for the interview preview to go viral on social media, as fans and other internet users around the world have been waiting to hear more from the famous reporter, wanting more information on the investigation, how their family is doing, etc.

On platforms like Instagram, these users reacted to Savannah's "gut-wrenching" interview and sent more well-wishes to her and her loved ones.

"This is unimaginable," commented a fan. "I feel for you so deeply. Prayers and support."

"This is so terrible, she looks tired and worn down," added another.

"So incredibly sad, cruel, and heartbreaking," wrote a user. "Thinking of the Guthrie family. Someone must know something."

We'll be curious to see what the rest of the interview entails, but for now, Hoda is describing her friend as a "marvel," and praising her ability to "sit there with an outfit on, have a conversation, and also have just direct thoughts about what she sees going forward."
